Gloria is my name, but…

Gloria is my name. and that’s a pretty g. found at dailydropcap.com. i was named after my grandmother. gloria isn’t an unusual name but not a popular name to name your kid. mostly i find old people with the name gloria. gloria makes the schwa sound at the end. what is the schwa sound you might ask. it’s the /uh/ sound in words. the first sound in “about” or the last sound you hear in “the”. any vowel can represent this sound. gloria isn’t a bad name, but it wouldn’t had been my choice. i like one syllable names, like the name kate. very clean and crisp. 50% of the time i am called just glo for short. “hey glo, what’s up?” it’s one syllable but it’s like an incomplete thought. marie is my middle name, along with a lot of other girls born in the 80′s middle name. sometimes my mom just calls me marie. besides from being called glo and marie i am also called by my first and middle name often. gloria marie. “gloria marie” has become my online identity. twitter.com/gloriamarie, facebook.com/gloriamarie, and gloriamarie.com. so i answer to gloria, glo, marie, gloria marie, and of course to “hello beautiful!” haha. it’s confusing, but only a tad. i wonder exactly how much power a person’s name have over their life. if i was a lilly or an amanda would i still be like me? i once had a conversation with a friend and she was telling me how she likes the look of the letter g, her company name is glint glam. i told her that i actually didn’t care for the look of the letter g, but i must reiterate and say that’s a pretty g!
